Emergency Vehicle for Har HaNegev
Message to sponsors
In the moment of truth, we can only rely on ourselves. First responders in the Negev know that in the event of a national emergency, resources are first directed toward big cities, and those of us who live in the periphery will be left for too long to manage alone. The best way to help the population of the Negev is to equip them now with tools that they will need if a crisis does arise. Har HaNegev, in Southern Israel, constitutes 26% of Israel’s land mass. A two-hour drive from Tel Aviv, Har HaNegev consists of flourishing desert villages, built on the values of Zionism, with a lively social and family life. One of the two main roads leading to Eilat passes through our region, bringing countless vehicles -- especially during holiday season – and unfortunately leading to many serious traffic accidents. In an area so far from service centers, we must build our own infrastructure to provide independent services in the case of medical emergencies. United Hatzalah is one of them. The Har HaNegev branch has 44 first responders, 7 of whom are doctors -- an unusually high percentage among Hatzalah’s branches. For many years, we have been preparing for large-scale crises and mass-casualty incidents, however no one could have imagined the atrocities of Simchat Torah, Oct 7, 2023. As a neighboring branch of the Gaza border, our first responders were there in those difficult early moments. Hours upon hours of heartbreaking work was done by our orange angels in the face of the devil. Now, more than ever, we need your help!
Our branch is in need of a 4x4 vehicle, appropriate for the Negev terrain, that will allow us to arrive at emergencies quickly. Narrow desert roads without shoulders quickly become blocked in the event of an accident, so we need to be able to drive off-road reach the injured and save lives. Due to the war, the population in the sector has increased by 70%, and at the same time, the extensive mobilization of IDF reserves has decreased our manpower by 30%. We are turning to you for support. When catastrophe happens, no ambulance will come from afar. Helicopters can’t get to us fast enough. We need to prepare now so that we can be there for our Negev community in the moment of truth. Help us reach our goal of $100,000.
